Kirkwood Shooting

If you've read the news, you probably heard about that City Hall shooting where 5 people were killed, and more wait in critical condition.

That happened less than a mile from my house. Helicopters ran all night -- I finally fell asleep past midnight, but they were still going.

Although I didn't know any of the victims, I went to bed feeling horrible for our community. It really affected me to know so many people had such horrific grief in their hearts as I laid there, trying to sleep through the sound of helicopters.

Everyone reads/sees these news clips, and maybe they think to themselves how horrible it is, but until there's flashing lights in your windows and helicopters overhead, you probably don't truely FEEL for the victims. I'm not talking about the big items -- Oklahoma City, September 11th, school shootings, etc. It just seems that when a headline announces fewer than, say, 20 people dead, people don't pay much attention to it anymore.

What are your thoughts on this?

I saw a headline for it in my email update but haven't had a chance to read it yet. It's horrible. I don't know the specifics yet, but my mom lives right by the Tinley Park, IL shooting that happened at a mall last week. It's just awful to be reminded that some people out there will hurt anyone that gets in their way. Awful. Glad you and your family are safe.

Brandie, how horrible. Like Lynda, I think I felt somewhat similar hearing about the Tinley Park, IL shooting because it was so close to where I used to call home. It's scary because it means anything can happen anywhere. Hugs to you. Big hugs.

The world is going crazy I must say! We had a shoot out right near my house where some guy killed his family members and then some SWAT and LAPD officers. I don't know if he got killed or is in prision. Life is really fragile and people are becomming more desperate as times get bleak. All I can do is appreciate life one day at a time and know that no where is safe.
Stay safe.
Peace,
Diva
